In the mid 1980's my wife, Linda Smith, and I decided to move out of town and operate a small farm in conjunction with our other jobs, volunteer work, and raising two children. Part of the reason for moving to the country was to provide a clean holism enviroment to raise a family. We raised two kids, who are doing quite well. In addition we raised sheep, corn, a horse, pigs, calves, pumpkins, cats, ducks, geese, trees,  pasture, and vegetables (not necessarily all at the same time.)  I got a chance to buy a 1953 John Deere Model 50, similar to the tractors he grew up with, and raise animals. Linda got a chance to operate a small craft business, quilt, and conduct quilting classes.

To express how we felt about this opportunity, we named our acreage and the business "Heartwarming Acres."

Today the childern are grown and graduates of Michigan State University. Linda died December 19, 2000 from a rare brain related illness.
